Many of us care about how our home looks but don’t have the time, patience or confidence to design elegant layouts and deal with fixings. That’s why Nicely Hung, Edinburgh’s picture hanging service, exists.

As a practising figurative artist and oil painter I understand not just how art can be made, but how it can be seen and experienced. Placement, composition, colour, texture, spacing and rhythm matter. A few centimetres difference can change the entire feel of a room or how you view a piece. My creative background informs my approach to picture hanging, installation design and composition. I have experience with curating and hanging residential properties, gallery exhibitions and group shows, and bringing together different works to create a cohesive whole.

I first studied at the Mackintosh School of Architecture, before working in business and founding a small agency. I then returned to Leith School of Art to develop my practice in figurative art and as an oil painter. Prior to establishing Nicely Hung, I held a senior role in a technology startup, whilst always continuing my art practice.

I know from experience how little time busy people have for the details at home, even though the details matter greatly to them.

You don’t need to prepare anything in advance. I arrive fully equipped, work with care and won't leave until it looks right. I'm fully insured with public liability cover. Much of my work takes place in Edinburgh’s historic buildings, where the architectural details and construction methods require careful consideration. I live and make my own art in a listed Georgian property.
