Picture hanging and art installation services

Serving Edinburgh, the Lothians and beyond

The considered placement of art and photographs transforms the look and feel of a space.

Whether you want clean lines and precision, a harmonious gallery wall, or a full home rehang, I make sure your pieces are curated creatively and hung thoughtfully.

Individual Pieces and Groups

For individual artworks or small groups. Ideal for introducing newly acquired works or repositioning your existing pieces. You may have bought something new, but are unsure how to show it alongside your current collection. I ensure each picture is shown at its best, level and securely hung. I am happy to hang just a single picture or artwork, no request is too small (or large!).

Whole-Home Art Placement

For clients with multiple rooms or entire homes, I can hang or re-hang your collection. Perhaps you recently moved home, or have freshly redecorated and are struggling for the time to do it properly. You can’t face hanging everything yourself, or simply feel it’s time for a refresh. Whether you are downsizing or upsizing to a new property, I can help you make the most of your treasured collection in your new space.

As time passes, we evolve and our taste evolves with us. I can help you reflect that in the art you surround yourself with, by re-hanging existing collections to better suit your personal style.

Curation and Layout Advice

If you have the practical skills to hang pictures, but lack confidence in placement or design, I offer a curation advice service. I will come and support you with your project and can advise on picture selection, layouts, composition, height and placement.

I’ll leave you with a detailed plan, and the confidence that your art will be in the right place.

Mirrors

I hang mirrors up to approximately 8kg. For heavier mirrors I'd recommend a two-person installation, and I'm happy to advise on the best approach. For older plaster walls I'll always examine the wall carefully before proceeding and give you my honest opinion on what's possible.

How I work

I am happy to hang all types of work, whether it’s a piece of original art, a child’s drawing or family photographs. They needn’t be expensive to have a special meaning, and I will work with whatever you have and whatever you love. I design and plan creative arrangements leaving your space balanced, curated and cohesive.

Typical works I hang include canvases, paintings, mirrors, prints, works on paper, 3D objects, plates, photographs, portraits and sculptures.

I prefer to dual-point hang wherever possible, using two fixings for better security and stability. I can advise on suitable fixing methods for a variety of modern and traditional wall substrates. I understand the specific types of walls found in Edinburgh’s period and new-build properties, whether you live in a Georgian townhouse, New Town flat or a Victorian tenement.

Every installation is carefully planned, measured, levelled and secured. I carry a wide variety of fixtures and fittings, and can replace or upgrade frame hardware if needed, ensuring your pieces are securely hung. I assess the walls and use detectors as a final check before any fixings are installed or marks made.

I work with precision, handle your collection with care and I am fully insured with public liability cover for your peace of mind.

Unsure about what you might need? Do get in touch and I’ll help you work it out.
